Why students sometimes forgot what they have memorized does it have something to do with their brains?

Students must memorize quite a bit of material, in many subjects. Though the brain has the ability and power to remember, the newest memorization becomes the most important. The brain sets aside material learned before and focuses on what is new. The best students learn to make mental pictures about facts; the brain tends to hold onto pictures longer than plain text.
