The fuel pump and sending unit are basically one unit. You have to remove the fuel pump from the assembly. You probably missed hooking up a wire when replacing it. It'll probably have to come back out to know for sure.....sorry for the bad news. I know it's no fun.

are you sure you reconnected the wire to the gauge when you did the fuel pump? also the gauge requires a good ground to the tank. its possible you don't have a good connection. just some thoughts.

Chevy's are known for this problem, i just recently had the same problem and what you need to do is replace the fuel sending unit. My original problem had to do with my fuel pump not working and i wasn't really worried about the gauge but we figured since we had the tank down we might as well swap the sending unit and my gauge starting working.
