Why those 4 presidents on mt Rushmore?
Mount Rushmore is in Keystone, South Dakota. The 4 Presidents whose faces are carved into the mountain are: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. There will Never be anymore faces added to the monument. Many people have suggested adding another face to the monument, but, that will Never happen.
The idea of Mt. Rushmore was thought of in 1924, by the historian, Doane Robinson. He believed that carved faces of western heroes would attract more visitors to the area. After a long lobbying period, where he tried to persuade government officials to allow and support this art, the Mt. Rushmore project began on October 4, 1927.
Mount Rushmore is located in the South Dakota Black Hills. The Mt Rushmore memorial was created by master sculpture Gutzon Borglum with the assistance of over 400 blasters, carvers and workers.
