Preveusly they are the king of gopebhumi (now the district like burdwan , birbhum , bankura).persently they are mainly agriculture land owner and business community. They are upper cast and son of soil in west bengal. They didn't migrated from east bengal. They use the surnames like roy. Kumar , sur , niyogi , mondal , pal , laha , das, sarkar , ghosh and so about 100 in numbers.
