Your vehicle is probably in "fail safe" mode. I would have the pcm/tcm scanned.

It does not have a drive shaft as such. It has a transaxle which which converts the power of the engine to the wheels. The transaxle also serves as the transmission.

Yes it will fit right in there no problems. As long as they are both 2 wheel drive or they are both 4 wheel drive. Can not mix them up.

Check and/or change transmission fluid and filter
If it is a 1/2 ton then it MUST have a 4-wheel drive 4L60E transmission put in it. If it is a 3/4 ton then it MUST have the 4L80E 4-wheel drive transmission put back in it. 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive transmissions are different. They will NOT interchange.
