Christopher Columbous was an important explorer because he was the first to discover the New World - America! He crossed the Atlantic Ocean in search of new lands, which was a brave and daring expedition. Also, he helped gained economic growth of Spain by travelling to distant lands to trade goods.
Christopher Columbus discovered the continent of North America, doubling the size of the world as it was known, and overturning the notion that the world was flat. If it weren't for Columbus's discovery of the "New World" we would not have found America when he did.
They really weren't. Other explorers did much more and found much more. Very few knew about him in his own time. It is only in modern history that he has been "made" important through the falsehoods in history books. This happens in history all the time. A story gets changed and is taken for fact, so it gets repeated as fact over and over. This has all ready started to happen with 9-11.
Because we would of still thought that the earth was flat
if Christopher Columbus had not discovered America there would be no one to help in world wide crisis and it would have affected trade all over the world
Because he was a Tudor explora who discovered AMERICA
Christopher Columbus is from Genoa, Italy, so he was Italian. He sailed to the Americas for Spain, though, because Spain's monarchs were willing to finance the voyages.
To find a quick route to Asia, but he landed in North America instead, but thought it was India. Columbus didn't like the Native Americans that lived on the land, so he took them as slaves, killed them, and sexually assaulted them.
Columbus' exploratory voyages lead to Europeans being aware that the American continents existed. Originally, Christopher Columbus was actually suppose to find India instead of America. So Christopher Columbus accidently found America(but it is still a good thing)
Nobody actually sent him. He wanted to find a faster route to Asia so he asked kings and queens to fund him. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella gave him the money and Christopher promised them riches to spread Christianity around.
he did discover Puerto Rico that's why hes so important
the voyages were so important because they wouldn't have discovered the Americas
