Theodore Roosevelt only served 6 months short of two terms (8 years). Franklin D. Roosevelt was the ONLY US President elected to 4 terms. He only served a few months into his 4th term because of death.

∙ 12y agoFranklin D. Roosevelt ran for reelection three times because he could. Before 1951, there was no law saying he couldn't. Before Roosevelt's presidency, it was a tradition to serve no more than two terms, following in the footsteps of George Washington, who chose not to run for a third term.
