The Bible, at Genesis 6:5, says that God saw that the wickedness of man was great. He brought on a flood to destroy man, but allowed Noah to live, because he was righteous. However, the bible goes on to describe great wickedness after the time of the Flood, including for example, the Tower of Babel and the story of Sodom and Gommorah. According to the Bible itself, it seems that nothing was achieved by the Flood. So in the biblical story, Noah and his family were only important in that they continued the human race.
First off, Noah's ark is not a story. It is REAL. The account of Noah's ark is important because it shows us that God is not just a loving person. He can be violent. I think we make Noah's ark a children's story because we don't want to think about the fact that just as God can be loving and gentle, He can be just as violent.
Noah's covenant does not have a specific importance to the Israelites. It included all of humanity and was centered around a Divine promise concerning physical things (Noah's family would survive the Flood; there wouldn't be another Flood).
Think about this:
Genesis 6:7-8New King James Version (NKJV)7 So the Lord said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them."8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
If he hadn't been righteous and obedient to God, we would not be here. 1 Peter 3:20
God made a covenant with Noah, that he would never destroy the entire earth with a flood of 40 days , and the rainbow would be a sign of his promise.
Because man was wiped out from the world .
Genesis 6:9 says that "Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation." So, he was chosen for his righteousness, but biblical commentators have long noted the "in his generation" comment. Perhaps nobody was more righteous in Noah's time, but perhaps Noah wouldn't stand up to the standards of other generations. When God threatened to destroy Sodom, Abraham argued that this would be unjust if it took any innocent lives. When God told Noah to prepare for the flood, Noah didn't say a thing, he just built his ark.
The Noah Plan was created in 1983.

Noah's Ark is a symbol both of judgment and of salvation. The judgment is in the worldwide flood which made the Ark a necessity. The salvation is in the Ark itself which 'saved' the righteous remnant, Noah and his family from destruction.

salvation is the final step to renunciation.
The ark was the way of salvation (from the flood) for Noah and his family. This was the only way Noah and his family would escape God's judgment. God communicated to Noah exact instructions to build the ark. Noah acted in faith and built the ark. God's way of salvation is specific today = the death of His son as a sacrifice for sin. This is the only way of salvation from the judgment that is coming. People accept this by faith.
noah's ark is such an important symbol because through the earth new generation came to existence. futhermore the if not for the ark where would we have been. in conclusion god is a perfect god he turned the minds of all the people not to enter the ark Noah's ark is a symbol of God's salvation. The way of salvation is provided by God. The ark is a picture of Christ.

Whatever plan God might have had for the Christian Church, there is nothing in the biblical story of Noah that expresses this.
Mary's role in God's plan of salvation is to provide an example for all of the people of the world and serve as a mother to everyone.
