Because Hitler was saying what they wanted to hear: 1. "Germans are superior and should rule the world." Hitler claimed that the Aryan people were superior, but their obsessions actually reduced the effeciency of their manufacturing of military equipment. 2. "Jews are responsible for all of Germany's problems." The reality is, Germany was responsible for its own problems. When Germany attempted to overtake Europe in WW1, the rest of the world wasn't willing to accept Germany's control of Europe, and after Germany had been defeated, the League of Nations placed enough sanctions against Germany that German citizens were suffering already when the Great Depression hit in the 30's. Instead of accepting responsiblity for sending their nation into such financial trouble, they accepted Hitler's claim that "It's all the Jews." But isn't that a common kind of behavior? Blame anyone but yourself for your own problems. Germans are talented, but Hitler played on their ego, and as a result, millions died and the world suffered for decades.

In addition, Germany was particularly badly hit by the Great Depression. Hitler's public hallmark was rage. His public screaming, shouting, ranting and raging seemed to many to express and embody their frustrations.

Nazism became popular due to a few reasons. First, after world war one gemrany was in shambles. Their economy and country fell apart. The versiellie treaty made them pay whT they had left to the allies as reparations money, they had to give up large amounts of territory, and formaly state that the war was their fault. All this made Germany ruins. The second reason is because of the unstable political system inter war ( between ww1 and ww2). After ww1 the monarchy government became a parliamentary democracy, but to do little influence and power it was easily undermined by other political groups such as the socialized and the newly (at the time) communists. The bird reason it became so prominent was because the people of Germany were desperate and were in need of a leader. When a young adolf Hitler started his political life after ww1 as a German officer he became very well liked by some and hated by others. He slowly took advantage of the governess instable climate and eventually ran cor office. He also had people burn down the German capital building and made it look like another political group did it. All in all, he was a very good speaker (mind I am not praising him but stating the truth). He offered a new, strong, respectable germany which was what all Germans wanted, and so they feel in love with him little knowing what would come next.
