In regards to England; many ships carrying supplies from Canada, the USA and other countries were sunk by German aircraft and submarines. With many English farmers serving in the military, with limited fuel for farm equipment, and trucks that take food to the market; getting enough food to eat for the British people (civilians and armed forces personnel) was very difficult. Germany tried to starve England with her submarines, but, eventually the Allies found a way to defeat the enemy submarine threat and enough ships, carrying supplies and food, got through to win the war.
