The Mayan calendar is a system developed by the ancient Mayan civilization to track time. The misconception that the Mayan calendar predicted the end of the world in 2012 likely stemmed from a misinterpretation of the calendar cycle known as the "Long Count," which reset at the end of a 13-baktun cycle. However, the Mayans themselves did not predict the end of the world in 2012.
The Mayans made a calendar so that they could memorize important dates of when they believed major events or meetings would occur.
They invented the Calendar because they needed to know which God was in charge of that day.
They needed to know who to praise, and to give the human blood to.
Mostly for Rain.
They invented the Mayan calender to keep track of the days. They also invented the number 0 (zero) to organize days and keep the calender straight.
It is a calendar that the mayans made and they stoped making the days of the calendar on 12/21/12!!!
the world will deffinately not end! if you believe that then you are bogus!!!
because is my culture :)
The Mayan calendar ends
The principal reason for this belief seems to be that the Mayan calendar ends in late December 2012.
Nobody knows. Some people think that it was going to end on 12/21/12 because that was when the Mayan Calendar ended.
The possibility of a second undiscovered Mayan calendar is intriguing, as it could provide further insight into Mayan timekeeping and cosmology. Any new calendar would likely reveal more details about Mayan culture, beliefs, and possibly even predictions about the future. Researchers would need to carefully study and decipher any newly discovered calendar to fully understand its significance.
people think the world will end in 2012 because the end of the mayan calendar and a allignment with the sun and the centre of the milkyway causing a sun flare to wipe out humanity
The world won't end in 2012 because the popular idea of the 2012 apocalypse is based entirely on misinterpreted data, and representing of fiction as reality. Most importantly, the Mayan calendar on which this idea is based does not predict the end of the world. The calendar only ends in the same sense that our calendar ends every year on December 31.
I think you mean the Mayan calander. They had a 5000 year calendar that ends on December 21, 2012. The Aztecs may have their own calendar but I know nothing about it.
The Mayan calendar ends in 2012, which has led some people to wonder if perhaps the Mayans knew something that we don't. Since the Mayan civilization itself is long gone, and there is no record of the reason why their calendar was designed the way it was, this is all entirely speculative. There does not seem to be any good reason to think that a relatively primitive and long vanished culture could predict the end of the world more accurately than we can. More likely, they just thought that 2012 was so far in the future that there was no point in thinking about it.
The end of the world will not happen, nobody has been able to read the Mayan calendar.
It is not necessarily dangerous, but some people of the world are predicting the apocalypse in 2012 as the Mayan calendar ends in that year. Others think that the world is not going to end, but just change.
The Mayan calendar ended in 2012, that doesn't mean that the world will end, just their calendar ran out of cycles. I think that you can probably sleep soundly about that.
No. It's just a movie. The only reason people think so is because it's not on the Mayan calendar. No, the world will not end. It was scheduled to end May 21, 2011 and it didn't. Don't worry.
