Both massacres were abhorrent. Pharaoh had no right to attempt genocide against the Israelites by killing the male children. Herod had no right to do what he did either. Both are equally abhorrent.

As it is written, "Thou Shalt not Kill", thus both atrocities are abhorrent in the eyes of God.

In the first, the 'grandfather of Pharaoh' slaughtered the newborn of the Israelites by having the "mothers sit on the birthing stools" then if the child (fetus) that protruded during birth was a male, it was immediately killed (partial birth abortion). This was done by the order of the older Pharaoh for the purpose of "destroying the Deliverer (Moses) whose appearance to deliver the slaves of Egypt was foretold" according to the Word of God. AS IT IS WRITTEN, according to the Word of God - "I (God) shall repay. Vengence is Mine. I shall visit the 'sins of the fathers' upon the third and fourth generations." When the "grandson of Pharaoh" repeatedly hardened his heart against the Word of God then declared again the "mass destruction of the first born of Israel" in retaliation towards Moses (his step-brother in the flesh); God merely took away His hand of protection, and sent His Angel of death upon the "first born of Egypt" to "take away their breath of life"! AS IT IS WRITTEN!

In the second, Herod too desired to "destroy the Deliverer foretold by the Word of God, Christ Iesu". He declared the "mass killing of children two and under" (to insure that the "Deliverer" could not survive as Moses survived the first massacre of children (hence post-birth abortion?). God, in His demonstration to the people, chose to "Protect the one True Follower and Believer, His only begotten son". (Does this mean that "all of the children of Jews and other true believers were not saved! We do not have the books available that would record such "protection from God" AND would the "true believers and Jews whose children were saved" report such "salvation from God" knowing they too could be "slaughtered by Herod"!

Both massacres would have been abhorrent if they had occurred. However, Israel Finkelstein tells us that over 90 percent of scholars believe that the Exodus from Egypt did not really happen - and if it did not happen, there was no slaughter of the children in Egypt.

There is no record of the slaughter of the Innocents by King Herod. Scholars have noted that Herod was so much hated by the Jews that any such crime would have been recorded by them, but even Josephus, the most influential Jewish historian of the time, knew nothing of these deaths.
