To be more detailed, Paine wanted to present American colonists an argument to revolt and be free from British rule but he wanted to do so in a way that the 'common' man would & could understand, hence the name "common sense". That was his ultimate goal and you can see an example of that as it is structured it in a pastoral way, giving many biblical references to attract and gain the attention of the common man, whom at the time practically all were religious.

"Common Sense" was a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine. It was written to show how Britain needed to use more common sense than they were using at the time. It really moved people because Paine had such a great talent for writing. It also brought up the idea of breaking off from England and living as an independent nation.
