Why wasn't 2000 a leap year?

2000 was a leap year because 2000 is evenly divisible by 100 AND evenly divisible by 400.

1900 and 2100 are NOT leap years because, although they are evenly divisible by 4, they are also evenly divisible by 100 but NOT evenly divisible by 400.

Examples:

2010 - regular year

2040 - leap year

2070 - regular year

2100 - regular year

2130 - regular year

2160 - leap year

2190 - regular year

2220 - leap year

2250 - regular year

2280 - leap year

2310 - regular year

2340 - leap year

2370 - regular year

2400 - leap year

2430 - regular year

2460 - leap year

2490 - regular year

2520 - leap year

2550 - regular year

2580 - leap year

2610 - regular year

2640 - leap year

2670 - regular year

2700 - regular year
