Not all school books were banned, however some were. These books were banned because the overall community didn't agree with the content of the books. Some books, for example Fahrenheit 451and The Giver were temporarily banned because it "taught" the reader that it was okay to stand up to the government and speak out, which some people didn't like, which lead to the books being banned.
