Well, it wasn't really the Germans. It was the Nazis themselves who were in charge of killing the Jewish people. It was the German army that was in charge of the fighting in the war (well, primarily. The Nazis did some fighting too, but not as much as the German army). The Jews were killed because Hitler blamed them for EVERYTHING that went wrong with Germany, despite the fact that this wasn't true. Really, all Hitler wanted was a world that was his and free of those he didn't like or agree with. Jews being top on his list.

The Jews were believed to be draining the economical ressources of those countries using financial means (Banks, middle-men, investments, etc.) but were not adding any real value to the development of those countries with activities such as agriculture, construction, etc. his goal being the overthrow all zionist run governments. His long term goal was to save Christianity from jewish communism and corruption of the catholic church. Hitler went after the Jews first, mostly because they created, funded, and ran communism. he believed they never accepted to adapt to their "new home" (Germany) and also believed that they were the cause of Germany's defeat in WWI, since they were in control of a big share of Germany's wealth and used this wealth against Germany's interests. This was indeed a very bad decision as many influent and powerful Jews from America then decided to finance the war against Germany. Benjamin Freedman's 1961 Speech covers this. For your information, Aryans are the blonde/blue-eyed decendants of Germany/Austria area of Europe who typically have narrow noses and other physical characteristics. Hitler didn't only kill communist Jews, he also killed the physically and mentally deficient who were communists sympathizers.

Hitler was racist towards the Jews indeed. He did many things unimaginable such as putting Jews of many ages in gas chambers and in rooms that he lit on fire. He killed 6 million Jews from the years 1939-1945, he tragically killed Anne Frank and her family a few months before the Allies liberated. A great movie and book i would recommend if you like this time period is The Boy in The Striped Pajamas. It is moving and very powerful.

The Nazi's killed Jews in the Holocaust in Germany and elsewhere because they saw them as not human because they wanted someone to blame. This is because after ww1 they had everything taken off them and they were effectivley beaten to a bloody pulp and then left to die so they had to blame somebody.

Because the Nazis had decided that German people were the best people in the world, and that Jews were the opposite. They thought that Jews were not only the worst people in the world and the cause of most of mankind's problems, but they were Untermenschen, or "sub-humans", and not even really people. In an idiotic 1940 Propaganda film called "The Eternal Jew", the Nazis went so far as to portray Jews as basically the same as rats, showing video of crowds of Jewish people in a city and then video of rats in a sewer, as if to say "see! These things are the same!"

__

Targetting the Jewish population has deep roots in history. Europe has seen a long list of pogroms and attacks on it's Jewish population dating back centuries before WW2. Hitler and the Nazis simply fed into a deep seated belief that already existed. They didn't create the hate in a vaccuum. The first accusation that Jews "killed Jesus" actually dates to about 167 CE. The first time German leaders persecuted it's own Jewish population occurred in Mainz, Germany in 1012 CE. The Holy Roman Emperor kicked all the Jews out of the city.

So, Jews were a natural target for the Nazis. They used a readily available target.

After WWI, it was thought the Jews who were the bankers of Germany sold out the country. Many Jew were pacifist's who did not favor the war. It was bad for business. With the rise of Hitler and the Jews as money lenders in the heads of the populace, the Jews became easy targets of hatred for the Nazis.

After the economic difficulties of post WW1, the NSDAP or Nazi Party began to use the Jews (and other minority groups) as scapegoats. Anti-semitism was already widespread in the world and one excuse for this was that Jews could be "usurers".

Goebbles was in charge of NSDAP propaganda from around 1923 and he worked with Hitler to create a very negative image of Jews. When Hitler came to power in 1933, he began implementing his ideas of racial superiority of Aryans. Jews, homosexuals and other groups were seen as racially inferior and therefor unfit to fight for Germany as Hitler was preparing for war.
