because they couldn't mind their own business

EDIT:

According to page 147 in Creating America:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Native Americans and the Europeans (French) were alliances. They lead to their involvement in each others wars. (For ex.) the Iroquois (The Iroquois were a large tribe of Native Americans) trapped all the beavers in their own lands to get more furs, they made war on their Huron and Algonquin neighbors driving them west. Iroquois Expansion threatened the FUR TRADE. THE ENGLISH WERE ARMED BY THE ENGLISH. When France and England declared war on each other in Europe in 1689, French and English began to FIGHT. With their Native American Allies (Friends), they attacked the each others settlements and forts.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During 1700's, two more wars between France and England fueled wars in the colonies. Neither side won a clear victory in these wars. A Final war called the French and Indian War(1754-1763) decided which nation would control the northern and eastern parts to North America.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In My words

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

So basically, I guess the Native Americans and The French were great friends. The Fur Trade created economic and military alliances between the Europeans (England) and the Native American trading partners. The England and French were fighting for land. Hope this helped!!!

I have know Idea.

NEW RESPONDENT.

Because they could help sometimes decisively both sides during the military operations in scouting, raiding and hampering enemy movements in their offensive and defensive actions, especially when they were "supervised" by regular officers or supported by regular French or British regular units.

The most advantaged side was the French one because:

1 - The majority of the Native American tribes were allied with them, thanks of the wise relationship in economics and politics the French were used to have since more than a century towards that tribes.

2 - The French had no territorial aim outside to maintain the control over the Ohio Valley, the Ontario and Erie Lakes, and to preserve what they already possessed. Therefore they are fighting a somewhat strategic defensive war, though they didn't disdain to take in many occasion tactical offensives.
