It varies between what app it is. Some of them are free. I have dozens of apps on my ipod touch that i got for free. If you have a wi-fi connection,(Internet connection), you can go on the app store and find the app that you want. The price will be right next to it!They vary in prices. Many are free, the more functional ones cost money (around a dollar or two). Some of the more advanced apps can even cost hundreds of dollars.

Some apps for the iPad are free, others are not. It depends on the app. You can get the newest paid apps for free though. There are a few sites that pay you to download apps and review them. You become an "app tester". The problem with these sites is that they have too few apps. You go to the site, register and they pay you up front to download the app they send you. At the beginning they send you just one, but eventually you get a list to choose from. These are paid apps on the App Store. You buy it through the App Store as usual, send them the receipt and a link to your review and they send you more money to your PayPal account.
Uh? Do you mean the App Store app? That is where you can purchase more apps.
