It could be that your battery is not getting charged by the alternator, which would be either a dead battery, a bad alternator, or a wiring issue. I'd get it checked at an actual automotive electical specialist, not at an auto parts store or a Wal-Mart-ish place.
-or-
Try jump starting the battery and letting it run for awhile (15-20 mins). Turn the car off then see if it starts. Did you buy the alternator new or get it at a junk yard? If new then it's probably the battery, which you can easily replace. If the alternator was bought second hand go get another one. If that doen't work then try the new battery thing. If neither of these things work, then you might consider taking it to a repair shop. If you need a specialist they will tell you, but chances are they can fix whatever problem you're having.
u might need a new starter
The computer only resets when the battery is removed. The alternator just charges the battery, so if the battery is left connected when the alternator is replaced, the computer should not reset.
2002 Mazda tribute, what is cylinder misfire My #5 cylinder has a misfire. Battery light also flickers according to idle. So far not alternator. Alternator and battery was replaced maybe 2 years ago.
the battery is dead and needs to be charged or replaced, or it could also be the alternator is going bad
Battery light usually means alternator not charging. Most common solutions would be be a bad alternator, bad connection, or loose alternator belt. If the battery and alt test ok than check the connections to the alternator and battery.
did you check the alternator??
Check the battery cables or starter.
Alternator is not charging. Have it tested and/or replaced.
Voltage regulator or loose wire.
If alternator and battery test fine- then you may have a bad fusable link not allowing the alternator to charge the battery
The battery light coming on in your Town and Country minivan means that the alternator needs to be replaced. The alternator charges the battery and if it goes bad it will not charge the battery.
It could be an alternator. Check with a mechanic if that is the issue.
alternator needs to be replaced. battery also might be a problem due to the alternator not charging it
94 Buick Lesabre replaced battery and alternator and the alternator is not charging the battery. Battery light is on and off. Is this fusable link. If so where is it located
You can have the alternator tested free of charge at just about any major auto parts store. By the way, a bad alternator will not "discharge" a battery - the alternator's function is to provide the charge to the battery. If the alternator is faulty, then it is not providing the charge necessary to keep other components from discharging the battery. I had the alternator tested and it was charging. If the alternator has a bad diode, it will discharge the battery. I replaced the alternator and everything is fine.
check the alternator. Use a digital multimeter and with engine running you should have 13-14 volts at the battery. If less than 12.5 Alternator is not charging Also check the amperage the alternator is putting out.
you have a short where negative is touching the metal of the car or it is grounded inproperly
A light is on or a relay is stuck pulling power from the battery.
No, the battery may be defective and the alternator may be just fine or vice versa. Saying that if the alternator was overcharging the battery it may very well have destroyed a good battery. Just have the battery checked at any auto parts store.

Front of engine. It's belt driven and has a lead to the battery so that should help you.
You need to replaced the starter or the alternator.
