We had a 1999 and now have a 2003, neither of our keys have ever unlocked the hatch, not something we bother with so never found out.
You will know that your Honda Passport has a keyless entry by the absence of a keyhole. There will also be numbers on the door for a lock combination.
One reason that your keyless entry may not work is that the battery is dead, take it an auto parts store and have the keyless entry battery replaced. If that does not fix it you will need to take it to the dealer to have the keyless entry reprogrammed.

The keyless entry module on a1998 Honda Accord is located underneath the dashboard. It is housed on the driver-side the of dash close to the main relay.
Dealer, eBay, etc.
On the inside of the keyless entry remote or sometimes on the back it explains how to do this. I believe you hold the unlock button along with the lock button for 7 seconds near the car. It will explain it on the inside of the keyless entry remote.

Not with the keyless entry pad or remotes - unlock your drivers door using your key That's what I had to do on my 1995 Ford Explorer when the battery had a dead cell and there was no power
No , just to lock or unlock the doors
Each vehicle with keyless entry has its own code
That's a dealer item.
If the keyless entry works on your other dooor(s) then electric lock motor may have failed. If it doesn't work on ANY doors, then the battery in the keyless remote has probably gone dead. If it is the electric motor, it is your decision if youwant to spend the money to repair it, or just get used to using the key to manually lock/unlock it.
