what does it do
Remove the positive cable from your 1998 Monte Carlo battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new starter.
Try on the top of the starter - follow the + battery cable
it is mounted to the starter !
No. If the starter doesn't work it can't turn the engine.
The 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo starter can be found on the right hand side of the engine. The starter will be near the back of the engine.
The battery on the Monte Carlo is under the hood. It is under the washer fluid bottle, which has to be removed to reach the battery.
on the starter
battery? starter? voltage drop between the two? Do you have gas? Check for spark.
The negative terminal does not go to the starter on a negative ground system. The negative terminal goes to ground.
I own a 1999 Chev. Monte Carlo Z34 and was having trouble starting it. So I also replaced the battery [twice]. Then the voltage light came on. It seem'z that the starter is going out. My friend took it out and kinda cleaned the starter up a bit, and the light'z have gone out. I am now able to start my car, but will SooN need a new starter. So you may want to check to see if your starter is bad. Auto Zone can check it for you free of charge, this only take'z a few minute'z to do. If not the starter than I would have your alternator checked out too. [have them both checked at the same time].=Im not a mechanic, Im just telling you this from my own past experience, with my Monte Carlo. Worth a shot I would think.==GooD Luck !!!!!!==SixxNikkiSix=
It normally leads straight down to the starter. However, I have seen some that lead into a smaller wire, going right to the battery. It all depends on if the wiring has been messed with previously on your car, or if a battery cable has been replaced.
Bad alternator not charging battery? Bad voltage regulator? Blown fusable link?
