its just the way polaris 4wd works. to get it working, stop the wheels spinning, hold the reverse override button, then go and u have 4wd in reverse :) its a bloodey pain, but that's why i have a Honda ;)
You need to put the correct fluid or the front wheels will engage even if the all wheel drive switch is in 2 wheel drive. The part number is 2877922 get it from a Polaris main dealer. should be £7.50 + vat for a quart. www.polaris-britain.com

On most Polaris 4 wheelers the output shaft on 2 wheel drive models is shorter than on a 4 wheel drive . You can go to www.bike bandit .com look up part number for both models and see if they match .
For the older 400/500 engines you will find the dipstick sticking out of the top of the remote oil reservoir in the front left wheel well.

Your 4 wheel drive may be engaged. Take out of 4 wheel drive and put it in reverse. Drive the car in reverse while turning the steering wheel all the way from one side to the other until it disengages.
