Your 1993 mercury grand marquis will not start after you turn the ignition you already changed the starter and it still wont start sometimes?

If you can hear your starter motor turning but not the engine you have some teeth missing on the ring gear. If you can hear nothing, not even the starter motor solenoid clicking into place, you have a connection problem between ignition switch and starter motor.

Is a starter solenoid part of the ignition system?

The starter solenoid, despite its name, is not part of a vehicle's ignition system. It is used to send electric current to the starter motor, engaging the engine.

How do you bypass a starter solenoid?

A starter solenoid can be bypassed by connecting a jumper wire between the battery and ignition posts on the starter. This will cause it to spin immediately without using the ignition switch.

What causes a 1996 mercury cougar not to start you turn the key and get nothing but the fuel pump kicks on you have changed the ignition switch could it be the neutral safety switch?

Yes

Why when you turn the ignition key nothing happens?

It could be a bad battery, or connection. A bad starter and or solenoid could be the problem, along with an ignition switch to name a few.

1999 Saturn SC1 that won't start it turns all the way over and nothing happens My battery is good i was told that maybe it could the starter solenoid?

If the starter is engaging and the starter is able to turn the engine normally, there is nothing wrong with the solenoid. Instead, I'd look at fuel, ignition and compression.

1972 Mustang won't start after the starter solenoid has been changed it doesn't click when the ignition is turned what could be wrong with it?

Solenoid could be installed incorrectly. Could be electrical connection on the solenoid. Did you re-connect the battery? Could be a bad starter motor...or a stuck starter motor. Sometimes a light tap or two on the starter motor (not the solenoid) with a hammer will free it up.

Where is the starter relay on an 86 jetta?

there is no relay for the starter. there is a solenoid (switch) and ignition switch. the solenoid is part of the starter (small cylindrical shape above starter housing. the solenoid has the battery and ignition connections). and the ignition switch is where the car-key goes. you need at least 8v from the ignition to the solenoid for the starter to operate. use a multimeter. otherwise check your starter - battery connections. otherwise replace the starter. otherwise, take off the starter and inspect inside the starter housing. if the starter is clicking but not turning the engine the starter teeth aren't engaging with the teeth on the flywheel. get a manual to the car here: http://www.germanautoparts.com/Books/Volkswagen

Where is the ignition solenoid located on a tiltwheel 1994 Chevy Silverado 2500?

Starter solenoid is a part of the starter itself, the ignition relay can be found in the main electrical control panel under the hood.

Where is a solenoid on a 312 v-8?

the solenoid is located below the starter. if your looking to bypass the wiring to the ignition, dont do it often or you will burn the brushes in the starter

Why will a 91 Lincoln Town Car start with a screwdriver touching the solenoid but not with the key manually?

Not to bash on the last answer, but, the starter solenoid probably isn't at fault here. If it will start with the screwdriver then the starter solenoid is functioning. It either does or it doesnt. The answer lies in circuitry back from the solenoid to the ignition switch. You could have a bad ignition switch or neutral/safety switch.AnswerDefective starter solenoid.
