HDMI and DVI are compatible connectors for video signals. There are two small but important differences.
First, DVI does not carry audio whereas HDMI includes it as part of the interface.
Second, and most important, is that HDMI supports HDCP, an encoding system to prevent signals being copied. To receive HDCP encoded signals, the display must be HDCP compliant (i.e. licensed to receive and decode the signals). DVI does not support HDCP and therefore a DVI monitor will see garbage rather than a good signal.
For protection of the content, there are no licensed HDMI to DVI converters on the market. Furthermore, the few unlicensed converters are not guaranteed to operate. Indeed, the HDCP system provides for disabling HDCP receivers in the future if they are using unauthorized license keys. HDCP has been introduced in response to people pirating material. Sadly, it also prevents legitimate use of some content such as display on DVI monitors as this question demonstrates.
Use the HDMI cable if the TV has one and change the TV over to HDMI or whatever HDMI PLUG number you used if you have more than one. Some TVs also need to have settings changed to accept HDMI and the sync.
Because you need to turn your HDTV to the HDMI that was the one the PS3 was plugged into much like you switch a TV so it will pick up a cable box or DVD player signal instead of the TV antenna Then you can see the PS3 on your HDTV and set the Sync controls for your HDMI. When the sync is on it will switch the tv over to the ps3 when the ps3 is turned on
Check the monitor cable on both ends. If it did not help test your video card (try to replace it with a spare one if you have it).
Yes you can. If you mean cable as in the broadcast feed from a cable supplier, then Bluray player operates independently of the broadcast feed. If, by high def cable, you mean the cable from the player to the television, it would be an HDMI cable. Even without an HDMI cable, almost all Bluray players have a composite video interface that will deliver a standard definition version of the output.
the same thing happed to me i just called the company and they give you a new one but it keeps your memory and for the slim it will cost some more
This is a typical problem when a PS3 is updated or reset for some reason, and the Video Output settings are changed, or you moved it from one monitor to another one and used a different output (e.g., Component Out on one and HDMI on the next).First try and see if you can get a video output on any monitor at all using any type of output. If you can, then you'll need to setup the Video Output to the monitor you're normally going to use it with. If it's still set to the original output setting you had before the problem, then it's either the output itself or the cable itself. You can't go by a "cable missing" message - some systems only sense the connector when it's contacting the output connection, not the cable itself. Never assume the cable is good until you've proven it to work on another system.
my monitor seems fine, is yours broken?
Why would you want to when the RCA cable is only for 480i picture and the HDMI is for HDTV. If your TV can work with the HDMI cables then it is a HDTV and the will not provide the same results with an RCA connection. Anyway the HDMI cable is capable of sync and can adjust the setting and automatically switch your TV to the PS3 when you turn on the PS3 slim model (earlier models do not have this feature). You need to go to the PS3 settings and the TV settings to correctly reflect the 480i signal and to manually turn your TV to the PS3 input location every time you now want to use it with the RCA connection. You will also have to manually switch it back when you want to watch TV instead of playing the PS3. The PS3 does have the ability to have the video reset to the lowest level which will allow the RCA cables to work again. This is done by holding down the power button for two beeps while the system is turned off. That is supposed to reset the video to the lowest level according to instructions
Go to google shopping type CRT monitor power cable find the one that is compatible to your PC.i checked and you wont waste no more than 20 dollars.
I have a sony bluray player conected to my tv by a hdmi cable only it wont work can anyone help me --------------- Go into the menu and set the output resolution to either 720p or 1080i and it should work on any HDTV that's not 1080p. If it doesnt, don't use an HDMI cable - use Red/Green/Blue (Component Video) cables to hook up to the TV. It will work fine at 720p. You will also need to connect additional red and white cables for sound.
Something could be wrong with your Xbox software, or something. You might want to contact Xbox support and see what could be the problem, they're going to more than likely be able to help you.
