This means that all a firewall does is prevent other computers from easily accessing it. If you have a software that is a firewall, then it is looking for hackers trying to get into your computer and terminating those connections. A hardware firewall… Read More

Answer A firewall is a piece of software that helps protect a computer and the network its attached to from outside attacks via the internet. Firewalls are very important because malware such as worms can spread very quickly over a network. This is because one computer is infected and then that malware infects other computers connected to the same network the initial computer is attached to. The idea of a best firewall is subjective. Every… Read More
Sure you could, as long as you didn't need to interact locally. A good example would be a router or firewall. Generally they have no interface, unless you access it from another computer via LAN or internet connection. Read More
Yes you can have two anti virus programs installed however they may negatively interact with each other and lower the security of your computer instead of raising it. So I would be very carefull what programs you install. However if one program is just a firewall and nothing else. and the other program is just an antivirus program with no firewall then you can definite download both. Read More

No. Concerning yourself with just the outside threats is one-sided - an infected computer could join the network or a networked computer could be infected through means other than the Internet itself (like inserting an infected pendrive), and that computer would then become a threat not just to the network behind the firewall, but also the Internet at large. Monitoring inbound traffic is a way to stop incoming infections, but a firewall should be configured… Read More

The answer is "most likely." If your system is insecure (no firewall, and placed directly in the DMZ), giving someone your IP address is akin to giving them your real house address; if they can figure out a hole in your security, they can steal all of your computer's data and even cause you to lose all your data. However, in the real world, that is often untrue; the modem or router acts as a… Read More
