depending on the condition of the old units there could be carbon trace damage. the vent hole could be plugged not allowing the normal condensation to escape. being a victum of a no start in hot weather i found the "main-relay" was defective and very heat sensitive. it is upper left of the stering column and labeled "main relay" the solder joints fail

try replacing your distributor, distributor cap, rotor, and maybe the spark plug wires.

You may have messed up the timing when you put on the new distributor cap.
Bad spark plug wire or distributor cap. Replace them both plus the rotor.
Tune it up. Replace the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter, and air filter.
To change the distributor rotor on a1998 Honda Civic unplug the spark plug wires from the cap. Loosen the screws and remove the cap on the unit. Be sure to properly line the new cap on the distributor and install.
If the rotor of the 2001 Honda Accord will does not have mounting hardware it is pressed on. To remove these types of rotors the caliper will have to be unmounted. The rotor will then come off.
A fouled spark plug, high tension wire breaking down, a bad distributor cap/rotor, coolant leaking into the combustion chamber, etc.
unplug battery, pull on the distributor cap, remove distributor rotor, slide out dust cover, pull 4 Phillips screws that hold coil in place, remove wiring, replace reversed of removal.
