Why would a 1992 Honda Accord engine idle up and down between 700rpm to 500rmp jumping now and then?

its the HIC VALVE....it controls your idle. when the engin is on , coolant runs through it as the temp rises-it lowers the idle. calcium builds up inthe coolant ports and restricks the coolant. located on the drivers side, on the intake manifold. (usually u can remove it, take it apart and clean. otherwise go to hondamajestic.com they have all you need. Mine did the same thing...ended up being an old valve that needed to be replaced
