Why would a 1999 Chevy Blazer S10 not start after sitting for several hours but will start immediately with a shot of ether sprayed in the throttle body and continue to restart on it's own after that?

Injector is not fully shutting off and is leaking down and loosing fuel pressure. This will cause fuel to accumulate in the oil pan, and mix with the oil. This is a bad thing, and will cause engine damage. Replace the faulty injector, and change the oil/filter.

I don't know the solution but I have found several posts that indicate it's a dirty throttle body or malfunctioning Air Intake Control (AIC) motor. I have the same van with the same problem and I'm going to try to replace the AIC and clean the throttle body tomorrow.
