Why would a 91 Ford Probe shut off while running and only start when fuel is poured directly into the engine?

Fuel pump/fuel filter need replacing. 1991 Ford Probe has fuel cut off switch located in trunk, if car ran over bump, hit something in road, that bounced up under car, possibly caused switch to shut off. pouring gas into engine will only work as long as you pour gas.Try resetting cut off switch to start fuel pump.

With a volt meter or multi-meter. With the engine off the battery should read 12 volts at the battery posts. With the engine running it should read from 13.5-16 volts. Red positive probe goes to positive red post on battery, black negative probe goes to negative battery post or any metal ground on the engine.

Easy: you call a professional to do it. The Probe windscreen is bonded directly to the car and is not a job for the DIY-er.
