Why would a Neon lose acceleration after replacement of the heater core?

The heater core itself could not affect your acceleration, so something probably got broken or disconnected when the heater was replaced. I really couldn't say what. It would depend on if the heater is installed inside the car, or under the hood. Something else could be going on that is completely unrelated to the heater core replacement. It's not unusual, in my experience, for different things to go wrong in cars at close to the same time.
