Why would engine oil be in around air filter on rebuilt engine?
breather tube from crankcase or valve cover brings blow-by to the air cleaner to reburn. excessive blow by will be heavy with oil in the air.
Seized engine. Thousands of dollars to install rebuilt engine. Bad news.
Without an oil filter in place the engine oil would just be pumped out of the engine , so the engine would run until the engine seized
There are several reasons your filter may leak. It might be the wrong filter. Did you oil the gasket before installing it. Did you over torque it (more than 1 turn after contact). Did you make sure the old oil gasket wasn't still on the engine block before installing the new filter. Could be a defective filter(bad gasket). In any case, better replace it to be safe, filters aren't supposed to leak. Better spend 3… Read More
Sometimes, depending on the severity of the engine, the block can be plugged or welded. Most of the time it would be quicker or even cheaper to get a used or rebuilt engine.
On a 2003 Ford Taurus : Yes , there is an engine oil filter On the 3.0 liter " Vulcan " V6 engine , the oil filter would be on the side of the engine that faces the front of the vehicle and takes the ( Motorcraft FL-400-S engine oil filter ) The 3.0 liter DOHC , Duratec V6 engine takes the ( Motorcraft FL-820-S engine oil filter )
it depends on your gearing for top speed and the shape of the engine (when was rebuilt, etc). I own an CRG with a Kx125 engine and I can easily get over 100MPH.
Sure if the car was worth that and you know the rebuild was done correctly. If you have any doubts walk away. If the engine was not rebuilt correctly, it may not last long even though it may run perfectly now.
If it's a gasolene fuelled engine I would use a synthetic, and keep right on using this type of oil after the initial oil and filter change has been done and the break in period is over.
Odds are the needle and seat in the carb is faulty. Probably need to be rebuilt.
The function of the engine oil filter is to remove contaminants from the oil. It removes very tiny small particles that are floating in the oil. Without an oil filter that engine oil would become dirty very quickly. This is why it is of utmost importance to use a quality oil filter.
What causes the oil pressure to be 15 psi at idle and 25-30 when driving and the lifters to tick at idle and quit as engine speed is increased on a 1990 Chevy 350 with 50 miles on a rebuilt engine?
Did you replace the oil pump? If not then that would be suspect. Also install an AC/Delco filter before going any farther.
Not really worth that much. Plenty of 4.6 L engines around, and at that age, it would have to be rebuilt. Say about $ 150.00 to $ 200.00 for the complete engine, then the cost to rebuild it is a lot more.
That would be part of the crankcase ventilation system. I guess you could call it the air filter housing to engine crankcase ventilation tube.
What would cause a 96 s10 blazer to be completely gutless i just rebuilt the engine and replaced all o2 sensors map sensor egr valve air filter etc?
try changing the cat. they plug up causing motor not to breath under thottle but will idle great....
1st step would be to change the transmission fluid and filter (if so equipped). may save you the cost of a rebuild.
My advice would be to have the transmission fluid and filter changed. If that does not correct the problem you need to have the transmission rebuilt by a professional.
Well, depends what engine? Spark plug's, air filter, oil, oil filter. Check carb's if any. Timing if it is really running bad. Knowing what engine sure would help.
My mom took her Pontiac 6000 in for an oil change the guy said there was no oil in the filter Is that possible to run an engine with no oil circulating through the filter?
Only way that can happen is:- 1. No oil in engine. Highly unlikely, engines don't go far without it. Even if the engine is using a lot of oil and was nearly out there would still be oil in the filter. 2. Faulty filter put in at last service. Impossible, the engine would not make it to the next service. You are right to question it, you can run an engine without oil in the… Read More
A good tune up would be the first place I would start, plugs, wires cap, rotor, air filter. Then The O2 Sensor, MAP sensor, and see what that gets you. If you have a Carberated engine, it could need a rebuilt as the Rochester Vari-Jets are known to go defective.
First, head gaskets are not rebuilt. They are replaced and on V6's and V8's they must be replaced in pairs. If properly installed, the engine will be as good as new(that is if everything else with the engine is ok. The only bad thing would be is if some hack did the job and cut corners.
Hey. The reason why your engine is over heating is 1.),Your engine has dirt and other gunk in it, or,2.)You need a new filter, or3.), your engine doesn't have a filter and you need to get one. The filter I recommend is the filter with the orange micro-fibers in it. I do not remember the name of it offhand, so I'll try to get back and tell you. - 11Hilsonn
Why would the gasket on the oil filter of a 2000 chevy malibu keep blowing There isn't an old filter stuck on and oil pumps out when filter is off?
Be sure you are installing the correct oil filter for that engine.
If it didn't have an air filter then dust, dirt and certainly grass clippings will be sucked into the engine and accelerate the wear on the engine. If you never put one on it would probably cut the life of the engine in half.
Would a loose or cracked flywheel cause what sounds like engine knock in the lower part of the engine on a 99 dodge stratus?
yes absolutely, just happend to me on a rebuilt engine, with less than 2hrs runnjing time.
None. Those engines draw so much air a filter would be sucked into the engine.
The bypass valve in an oil filter allows the oil to bypass the filter if the filter becomes clogged. Some filters also have an anti-drain back valve when the filter is mounted in such a way as the oil could drain out of the filter. This valve prevents the oil from running back into the engine out of the filter which would cause the engine to be started with an empty filter every time.
Everything that got destroyed would need to be rebuilt.
This depends on the state of the engine, up to a point. If you are still running the original engine, I would change the oil and filter every 2-3 thousand kilometres. If your engine has been rebuilt with new parts, then you can use the engine oil for a bit longer, but do not exceed 4-5 thousand km. Be sure to use JASO-MA or MA2 approved oil only and not ordinary automotive oil as the… Read More
Why is your 96 explorer going down oil she is not leaking so she must be burning it what would cause this?
ususally valve stem seals or piston rings. Either way, a 10 year old engine probably needs overhauled, but rebuilt engines are not much more expensive than a rebuild and you get a warranty with a rebuilt engine.
Yupp Clogged fuel filter. Hole in the gas line.
Yes That would be the air filter most likely
On a vertical shaft Briggs & Stratton 12.5 h.p. engine it takes 48 ounces. If it has an oil filter and you change it add 4 ounces for the filter. So, and oil/filter change would require 52 ounces.
Look for a dirty/clogged air filter or fuel filter. A more likely cause would be a blockage inside the carburetor. Secondary, a bad gasket somewhere between the carb and engine block. A clogged fuel filter would allow the engine to run ok for a few minutes before surging, and a blocked air filter would cause a rich running condition.
The answer varies significantly based on the condition of the boat, engine hours (and rebuilds), and location. For a boat in very good condition (kept indoors) with an engine rebuilt or replaced in the last 500 hours, I would suggest around $4k.
yes it was rebuilt or else it would be a pile of debris
It depends on which engine it has and if it is 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive. Example, a 89 S10 4+4 with the 4.3 engine, you would find the engine oil filter under the hood, in the drivers side front corner of the engine compartment.
If the engine is an R2, RF or HW diesel engine, it would cost about USD 1,300. in the Philippines where i had my engine completely rebuilt, it cost me that much. what was not replaced was the engine block and the crankshaft only that required a USD 400 to reface. to buy a used one on an "as-is" basis, would cost almost the same plus the mechanic's fee that would be about USD 300.
really hard to say you would have to give a little more detail like the engine size in the truck most oil filter are in different spot on different engine blocks and now most cars are going back to the canister oil filters so you wont see the old filter hanging around
Coolant added to engine oil? It would run but it would do serious damage to internal parts of the engine and drastically shorten the life span of the engine. Don't run it! Have the oil and filter changed NOW.
That is the worst filter you could put on. If you want your engine to last you need to put a A/C delco filter on it. If it was not the best, chevy would not use it.
Its on the passenger side behind the engine you have to reach up to get it. Its a bigger filter than you would expect for a nissan.
This was fun next time please provide the model. The oil filter on a 1987 Chevy S10 truck is located on the bottom, right side of the engine. It is positioned on its side to allow for easy removal and replacement. If the S10 truck is a 4+4 with the 4.3 engine, the engine oil filter would be accessed from the top, under the hood in the drivers side front corner of the engine compartment.
unless the car is a cake, yes.. Answer 2: In cars there are multiple protections put in place to ensure that sugar does not get to the engine; fuel filters, oil filters, etc. Putting sugar in the fuel tank would clog the fuel tank filter (tank sock), and or the fuel filter. Putting sugar in the oil would clog the oil filter (engage the bypass so oil would still flow). The engine may shut down… Read More
The main reasons can be that one or more of the oil seals have failed on your engine like the sump ( oil pan ) gasket, oil filter seal or a loose oil line that only leaks under load which would show up as a dirty engine if the outside of the engine is clean of leaked oil then it sounds like the piston rings and cylinder bores are worn and if it is the… Read More
On a 2005 Mercury Monterey : The Mass Air Flow Sensor would be between the engine air filter and the big engine air intake tube * on the Monterey I believe it is inside the engine air filter cover
change the fuel filter
If the fuel filter is clogged, it will act like it is running out of fuel. It can also cause the fuel pump to fail. The clogged filter will overheat the pump and destroy it.
A bad oil sending unit, a bad oil pump, low on oil, or an engine that needs rebuilt.
i just rebuilt a 350 cost with head work $600.00 and it was done right greg
