Why would rain cause the AC on a 2003 Sienna to shut off?

Some A/c compressors today have a speed sensor mounted somewhere on the compressor.It detects the rpm of the compressor and compares it to engine speed.If there is more than a preset difference between engine rpm and compressor rpm the a/c system will be shut down by the a/c amplifier or computer depending on what type of controls your system uses.If it only happens in the rain it might be something as simple as a wet,slipping drive belt.

Tighten or replace drive belt....
