Dirty filter, or bad pressure switch. It can also be a oil pump going bad. I would suggest you first switch to an AC/Delco oil filter. They make one of the better filters and are designed for your car. If that does not help, immediately have a oil pressure check performed on the engine. This will tell you if the pump or sensor are bad. Do not continue to drive the car as serious engine damage can occur. Many people confuse the "check oil level" light with the "oil pressure light". The former is simply a convienience light on some cars to advise you the oil may be low without having to pull the dipstick. It comes on if the oil does not cover the switch before the engine is started. If the sensor in the oil pan is bad or the wire shorts, the light stays on. This light does not indicate you have a serious mechanical problem requiring urgent attention. It simply indicates you may be low on oil. The "oil pressure light" common on all cars, is another matter. If it lights, turn off the engine immediately and make repairs.
There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.

Check your fuse.
first check your brake fluid it may be low then check the switch at the emergency brake lever it may be stuck
there is no "diagnostic mode" check ALL the fuses xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx If you are referring to the diagnostic connecter being accessed and the light does not come on then you need to check and replace the bulb. If it was a fuse, which would be the ECM, the car would not even run.
I have had the light come on when I had a headlight out. me too. 9/15/05
Typically, a bad or "going bad" alternator.
Yes it would. The service engine soon light on that vehicle acts much like a check engine light on other vehicles and will come on when the computer senses a fault, like a hot temperature.
Bad fuse
The light is on for a reason, I would suggest getting a analyzer to check the computer codes and find out why it came on in first place. Erasing the codes and not repairing the problem will only fix it temporarily
check your gas cap if its loose replace it
No.
