THE FOLLOWING ARE SUGGESTIONS; I BELIEVE THE ANTI SCALD VALVE (IF EQUIPPED) MAY BE DEFECTIVE. THIS VALVE IS A DEVICE WHICH USUALLY ADJUSTS THE TEMPERATURE OF THE WATER COMING OUT OF THE FAUCET SO AS TO PREVENT A SCALD. HENCE THE NAME ANTI SCALD. AS I UNDERSTAND IT TO BE, THE VALVE USUALLY DECREASES OR GOVERNS THE HOT WATER SIDE. IT IS USUALLY PRESET FROM THE FACTORY, UNLESS YOU HAVE A TYPE THAT NEEDS TO BE SET. MOST BETTER FAUCETS NOWADAYS COME WITH THAT FEATURE. CHECK WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE IF YOU HAVE THAT FEATURE. DURING INSTALLATION, YOU MAY HAVE ALSO CAUSED AN OBSTRUCTION WITHIN THE HOT WATER INLET, BE IT A PIECE OF Teflon TAPE OR PLUMBERS PUTTY, ETC. THE ITEM OBSTRUCTING MAY BE FORCED TOWARDS THE VALVE AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME OR EXPANDING WITH THE INCREASE OF TEMPERATURE CAUSING THE WATER TO STOP. GOOD LUCK.
It depends on where you are. If your water comes from aquifers that are in limestone rock and you are near an industrial are it is likely the faucet water will be slightly higher pH than the rain water.
I wouldn't think PVC would attract the calcium particles, at least not to the extent you're talking about. On the other hand, the metal pipes in your faucet will. Try cleaning the faucet first. If you find you have calcium buildup in your faucet, you can either try cleaning it with a product called CLR (Calcium, Lime, Rust) or simply replace it. Good luck.
