The main reason the anti-federalists were against a strong central government was because they were afraid that their natural rights would not be protected. America had just finished fighting a war with England over these rights, and there was nothing in the Constitution to guarantee that the government would not take them away, that is why the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution.
because they were afraid that is you gave too much power to one person they would abuse it. afraid it would turn into a monarchy

The federal government was too weak...
A confederation is a form of government where power is concentrated at the regional or provincial level at the central government has very weak and limited powers
Federalism and the federal system define the basic structure of American government. There were many disagreements at the Constitutional Convention. Many delegates feared a national government that was too strong and many delegates feared that states' rights would merely continue the weak form of government under the Articles. The Constitution created a federal system of government (federalism) as a compromise. Under federalism, power is shared and divided between national and state governments. Both levels have their own agencies and officials and directly affect the people. The Founding Fathers really had no other choice except federalism. The weak union created under the Articles would not work yet people did not want to give all the power to a national government. Federalism was the middle ground--compromise--a way to distribute authority between the states and the national government
Federal government is the name for this system of government. Under this system, states get to retain their individual rights and maintain their own governments, but some duties, like currency and defense, are delegated to the federal government, which is elected by all the states working together. The Articles of Confederation was the first document establishing a federal government, in 1781, but the federal government created by that document was far too weak. In 1789, a new, stronger federal government was created by the ratification of the U.S. Constitution.

Oppression by the British government was what drove the colonist to revolt. They wanted to make sure that the new government was not oppressive. They had more confidence that their own state government would be more responsive and easier to keep in check than would the federal government so they sought to limit the powers of the federal government.

no, they did not because they want to be a free tribe and if they had a government did they would be weak but they are strong
Keep the power in state governments, not in the federal government. They wanted a weak central government, with strong local leaders.
A country that is large is most likely to have a Federal System of Government.Any country can have a federal system if the population and/or groups representing the population agree to waive certain rights of a local government to a centralized form of government. The powers of the "federal" government can be weak or strong depending on powers granted to it or not granted to it.
A weak central government with most of the power at the state and local levels
