crank position sensor
The fuel pump may stop working when you hit the ignition due to the mechanical failure.
Have the ignition module checked out and find a new mechanic. Also change the fuel filter.
check your switch that cuts off your fuel it is in the trunk the buton shoud be red it is called
A 1989 Ford Escort would not be getting fuel if the fuel pump has failed or the filter is clogged. A local mechanic or dealership can diagnose and repair the problem.
I don't own a 95 ford escort. But if I did, and the motor turned over but would not start, I'd look at either the ignition module or fuel pump first.
Several things could cause this. Some of the possibilities are; contaminated or old fuel, no ignition (spark) or ignition timing incorrect, incorrect cam timing, problems in the fuel management or delivery system (fuel pump not working or low pressure, fuel filter clogged, bad control computer or wiring, bad injector(s) or wiring, very low or no compression, ect)
One cause of your fuel data system not working is a faulty oxygen sensor. Another cause of your fuel data system not working is a defective ignition system.
check the ignition module for spark.
Probably the fuel filter is clogged and there was never anything wrong with the pump to begin with. Can you hear the pump making a whirring sound when you turn on the ignition. If so, the pump is all right and it is the fuel filter that is clogged up.
Most likely cause would be a defective/stuck fuel sending unit, which is part of the fuel pump assembly. Lift the rear seat for access to the fuel pump. One other possible cause would be a wiring fault between the fuel pump and instrument cluster.
On a 1997 Ford Escort : The ELECTRIC fuel pump is INSIDE the fuel tank
Only if your alternator is not working properly. If you are always charging your battery, check your alternator belt. That was the solution for my escort, a new $10.00 belt.
