Why would the heat switch not work on one and two in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am?

It is the Blower Motor Resistor. I have a 99 Grand Am and mine did the same thing, and my buddies Alero. 1 & 2 don't work but 3, 4, &5 do?!!! I had to go to the dealer to purchase it, about $25-30. It should be located on the passenger side, behind the paneling, behind the blower motor. It's facing vertical with a wire connector attached and 2 screws, 1 on each side. Look @ the part when you buy it and you can figure it out, but it's not very easy to replace. You may need a universal joint socket for you attack at getting it out. Hope that helped..good luck:D

The ECU is in the engine compartment on a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. It is the sensor behind the converter.
