It can be the module under the eash. Look at the panel your headlight switch is mounted to the left of the steering wheel. Your in luck! There's only a few popout cosmetic caps then a couple of screws to get it out. I found when fiddling with the connector on the back of the headlight switch , the running lights would come on and off. I applied the right pressure and forced a screw in the seams until the lights stayed on. This maybe a temporary fix.
check your fuse
Check fuses? Could be a bad headlight switch/ Could be an open in dimmer rheostat?
yes, it's your day time running lights. should be a fuse for it in your relay box under the hood.
heater will not blow on a 1996 ford contour
how to remove the vent from dashboard of 1996 ford contour
To fix faulty daytime running lights on a 1996 Chev Suburban, check if the bulbs are blown. If so, replace it. If the new bulbs are blown immediately upon replacement, check the wiring running to the headlights.
They are almost identical. If the style of contour is the same, i would say yes. IE - Contour GL.
Shift into neutral or park.
Check your radiator and make sure it has coolant in it. Thermostat might also be stuck.
Back track on your connects and ground wires. I bet that does the trick. If not test your sockets and fuses. email@example.com

there is a fuse dedicated to the running lights on the 96 Thunderbird. Check your fuse panel under the dashboard for the proper fuse and check to see if it is blown.
How do you add freon to a 96 Ford Contour
It could if it was built for the Canadian market. If built for the USA, no.
No. The Contour is a front-wheel drive car, and the Ranger is rear wheel drive.
Shut the engine off. They're supposed to be on all the time the car is running.
No, a 1996 hood will not fit a 1998 because the hood goes around the headlights on each car that are different.
Alternator is not charging the battery. When you turn on the lights the system doesn't have enough power to keep the engine running.
They are on the same fuse.
1.13 mm or .050 That's the gap my plugs are running at on my '95 Zetec (Motorcraft plugs)
The heater switch on a 1996 Ford Contour is under the passenger side dash. It is located behind the glove box.
We had the same problem with our 1999 and it turned out it is actually behind the ashtray in the dash. Hope this helps, Christine
I would start with replacing the head light switch
