Generally speaking, that area should also have a tender "knot"... If so, this is a lymph node... one of the many nodes throughout your body. They fight both viral and bacterial infections. Do you have an infected place in your scalp? If so, that could mean a lymph node is fighting the infection draining down through the lymphatic channels... It could also be a sebaceous gland... that's an oil gland that has become plugged, and because it continues to produce oil (sebum) it gradually swells and becomes a cyst (a fluid filled sac). These can become infected and swell and eventually drain a yellow cheezy-smelling material, a mixture of oil & dead skin cells from the lining of the cyst).

∙ 12y agoIf its behind your ear it usually means your starting to get an ear infection, I got it about a year ago and got some tablets and it went in about 5-6 days hope this helps
