astronauts will need to take air to mars because the atmosphere on the planet cannot contain any oxygen, thus no oxygen to breathe.

There is no air on the moon. Its atmosphere is so thin as to be nearly undetectable. Without bringing oxygen from the Earth the astronauts would have perished.

It would also need to be airtight, or the oxygen would leek out. The tempertures can also get very hot on mars, so that would also need to be accounted for.
