Most fossils are found in sedimentary rock, because igneous and metamorphic rock undergo great heat and pressure when forming, where as sedimentary rocks undergo much less pressure and heat to form, better preserving the fossil

You would tend to find lots of fossils in sedimentary rocks because when sedimentary rocks progress further and further though the cycle the rocks fossils would be destroyed. For example the sedimentary rocks are subjected to high amounts of heat and pressure to turn into metamorphic rocks and then become molten completely to become igneous so the fossils would be destroyed. Also sedimentary rocks are simply made up of compacted sediment so fossils can easily become trappedin betweenthe layers of sediment which is another reason the vast majority of fossils are found in sedimentary rocks.

because sedimentary rocks are made of particles cementing together and in the particles there could be fossil.
