Check the cat convertor. Remove the 02 sensor and start it up. If there is a great rush of exhaust and it seems to run better it is stopped up. Also, if you want you can have someone check it out.
Just get a sawzall and cit the cat off! I just did it this past week on my 94 wrangler and the thing has never run as well as it is now. I just pieced together some pipe from auto zone and started her up. If you can manage to get the existing bolt on cat off, you can get a long metal "poll" and bust the "honeycombs" out of the inside and just put it back on. Watch out for the o2 sens, mine is not in the cat, so it didn't matter!
Losing power is a lot of times due to a clogged catalytic converter, have that checked out.
If a 2000 Jeep Wrangler suddenly loses power in 5th gear, it might be a problem with the speed sensor on the transmission. This sensor regulates when the Jeep will shift or should shift.
My jeep wrangler keeps loking in gears
They are both YJ's so it should be a good fit.
No.
loss of power under a oad is a good indication of a clogged catalytic converter
