Why would your car overheat if you drove with emergency brake on and thermostat says hot after removing brake and cooling down?
thermostat is more than likely stuck shut from the overheat. Have to be changed.
The sensor on the thermostat housing is a cooling fan switch. Cooling fan switch closes the circuit to engage the cooling fan(s) when the optimum temperature is reached. When not replaced, cooling system fans will either remain continually "on" or not function causing the engine to overheat, internal engine damage and/or temperature light illumination.
Why does my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee overheat even after replacing the thermostat the coolant and radiator?
Why does your 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee overheat in park you replaced the relay and checked the wiring?
What would cause a 1996 BMW 320i convertible to overheat on a short journey and all the water bubble and steam?
my guess is the thermostat if you just replaced the thermostat then it might be an air pocket in the cooling system solved by taking the cap off the overflow tank squeezing the radiator hose going to the thermostat housing until the water pressure opens the hose in your hand this forces your thermostat open. if you decide to replace the thermostat yourself do the same as above to make sure all air is out…
Why would a 1996 dodge grand caravan overheat if sitting in traffic with ac running but cool off when you turn it off or start driving faster?
Start off by removing the top engine cover carefully so that it does not brake............ Drain the cooling system. Partially drain the cooling system. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the thermostat housing. Remove the bolts securing the thermostat housing to the water pump inlet. Remove the thermostat and the gasket from the water pump housing.
What can cause a 2000 Chey Venture to overheat after replacing the radiator the thermostat and the radiator cap?
If it is running hot then you need to service the cooling system. Drain and flush the radiator, replace the thermostat, check the operation of the water pump, see if the cooling fan is operating properly, and make sure the belts are tight and not slipping. Another possibility is a blown head gasket. Removing the thermostat is not the answer to an overheating problem.
1986 Buick Skylark. I crank it up every morning and when I drive on the freeway it shuts down completely and won't start back up until it cools off. What is my problem?
