Although DreamWorks has also made traditionally animated films about serious subjects earlier, such as The Prince of Egypt, Joseph: King of Dreams, The Road to El Dorado, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, most of their computer-generated films & television series have now gained the studio a reputation for being focused on humor and satire. The studio has made two movies based on Bible stories, The Prince of Egypt (1998) based on the Book of Exodus, and Joseph: King of Dreams (2000/Directo-to-Video) (based on the final chapter of the Book of Genesis). The Prince of Egypt is Critically Acclaimed while Joseph has good reviews. It is unknown yet unlikely for a third movie based on Joshua to be made, since DreamWorks' 2D department was shutdown due to the box-office failure of Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, unless it is computer animated or a different story is made with CGI. There were also plans to make movies about Tulio and Miguel (along with Chel and Altivo) searching for other legends, but due to the poor box-office performance, the series was scrapped.
One!
To this date there is no plan to make an animated television series based on the character Shrek. The Shrek films are property of Dreamworks and if they decide to develop a series, that would likely be through Dreamworks Television even though it is a separate entity from the film studio.
Of course they will.
Depends on what genre. I think animated movies cost more
They have made 23 feature films. The next one is Mr.Peabody and Sherman, and then, Me and my shadow.
ongly if you created him
1. Pixar (Toy Story, Up, Wall-E, etc...)2. Dreamworks (Shrek, Kung Fu Panda)
Disney and Pixar had a merger to make better animated movies.
In common language, yes. Some may make distinction between a film as a specific format of recording a movie, though, as opposed to say an 'animated DVD'.
As of 2012 they have not made any other animated movie based on any Biblical charters.
A good program to make animated movies is pivot. It allows you to create stick figures and move them around in every single frame.
Pixar is more politically correct, among other things. Compare the two; Finding Nemo: Coral reefs and currents; Shark Tale: Metro cities, mafias, car washes for whales; etc. Dreamworks also has more adult-oriented jokes. Not saying that Pixar doesnt make movies good for all ages, but Dreamworks is more "bad". Dreamworks is a little more cartoonish, while Pixar (as I stated above) tries hard to make their movies real, yet still fantasy like. There are hundreds of other reasons why, but I think those are the three biggest.
