That the Yellowstone volcano will erupt again in inevitable, but scientists do not know when. The volcano as it is now has only produced 3 super eruptions 2.1 million, 1.3 million, and 640,000 years ago this gives and interval range of 800,000 to 660,000 years. A smaller eruption occurred about 70,000 years ago. Given these intervals and the fact that scientists have not found any real evidence of an imminent threat, it is unlikely that it will erupt in our lifetimes.

Probably not. The supervolcano in Yellowstone has produced three super eruptions at intervals of 800,000 to 660,000 years with the last one occurring about 640,000 years ago. A smaller eruption occurred about 70,000 years ago. Given these time intervals, the chances of the volcano erupting in the next 5 years are almost negligible.

Even a minor eruption can destabilize the magma chamber(which is the size of New York City) causing a super eruption, the force of the super eruption is equal to 60,000,000 Hiroshima bombs going off all at once. volcanic winter will set in after the eruption lasting at least 2 years.

Okay, I am no scientist, but I will till you what I know about the Yellowstone situation as it is at the moment.

Let's start with a scientific certainty... there is magma underneath Yellowstone which is moving upards the crust. The evidence for this is fluctuations in the ground level around the caldera. That is a certain sign that Yellowstone is alive. Yellowstone , at the moment, is taking a "deep breath" but there is stuff going on down there. Yellowstone hasn't had a "super - eruption" for over 100,000,000 years which means we are approximately 60,000 years over due for a cataclysmic eruption. However, when another will strike is anyone's guess. Some people claim to feel heat coming up from the ground within the areas of the caldera. as it is a national park, which means that magma is dangerously close to the crust. As scary as this may sound, the magma may stay there for a few hundred years.

In answer to your question, it is impossible to say when it will blow but put it this way, if there wasn't ground movements around the caldera; Yellowstone would be forgotten about as it would be stone- cold dead. So yes, it will erupt, but when... we don't know! Don't worry though!! :)

Scientists do not know when, but they know an eruption is already long overdue. The eruption will be catastrophic and probably destroy most of North America.
