Yes it will, but you need to make sure that the engine and transmission bolt patterns are the same. The drive axles might not fight the splines of the '97 front splindels. The lenghts of the drive axles might be different as well. Other than that you should be able to...

no it won't the 2000 has diffrent plugs by the dip stick its a six pin . i made that mistake and got a 99 at trans for my 2000 and notice its the same in a accent 97-99 and the elantra but change in 2000 hope this helps

The water pump on a 1997 Hyundai Accent is replaced by first removing the timing belt and draining the coolant. The alternator needs to be properly marked and removed. Then unbolt the water pump. Clean off the old gasket and install a new gasket with the water pump.

if it's anything like the location on a 1999 Accent, then it's at the front of the engine block, under the passenger side headlight. it is can be viewed from the under the car.

I have not done tranny work on this perticular car, BUT, The owners manual will have A picture of the tranny dipstick and location.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, It your car needs fluid, there is A problem, It should never be low.

I've yet to change mine, but I hear that you specifically need to get Hyundai brand tranny fluid. Don't use generic.
