i need to know if the transmission will work from a 10 cylinder to a 5.9
The automatic transmission in a 2003 Dodge Dakota does not have bands.
It was available with a four, six, or eight cylinder engine.
The neutral safety switch on a Dodge Dakota will keep the engine from starting when the truck is in gear. It is located in the transmission case.

Will a 1992 Dakota truck motor fit into a dodge truck 1999 Dakota?"
Clearly Dodge Dakota, because the F150 can't go that fast with a little V6 or V8 and the Dakota has either a V6 or V8 magnum. Actually, the 1992 Dodge Dakota also came equipped with 4 cylinder engines, so without knowing which truck had which engine and which transmission and gear ratios each has, there is no way to tell which would be faster.
if your under the truck its on the drivers side beside the bell housing of the transmission
The Ford Ranger, Chevrolet S10, and Dodge Dakota are good trucks. For a 16 year old a 4 cylinder engine and automatic transmission would probably be best.
All Dodge V6 engines have a firing order of 1-6-5-4-3-2.
Under truck next to frame, on drivers side
Mopar® Manual Transmission Lubricant is recommended or equivalent for use in the manual transmissions
The firing order for all Dodge truck 4 cylinder engines is 1-3-4-2 and the distributor rotates clockwise.
