If the dog is in extreme pain and there is no hope or is sick with a terminal disease and in pain then yes, euthanasia is the most painless way over the Rainbow Bridge. Each owner will know when the time is right for their own pets to pass over the Rainbow Ridge, they will see it in their eyes or in their pain that can no longer be controlled, then it is time. I highly recommend each owner should be WITH their pet at that time, petting them, comforting them and let the last thing their beloved pet see is their owners face near them comforting them, loving them. I always ask for a sedation injection to be given first before the final injection. It is more soothing for all.

I absolutely agree. Since man domesticated dogs , and took them to his hearth and home, we are responsible for how they end a life that gives us love and comfort. Please do not hesitate to eutahanize a beloved pet because you " cannot bear to part with them " or are squeamish.Your suffering animal looks to you for everything, and cannot understand or choose for themselves. Please do not deny them this final act of love.
