Updated AnswerIt is not compulsory to complete Quran recitation once a year. However, recitation of Quran is a sort of worship and one is rewarded by each alphabet letter that he recites. Muslims are encouraged to recite what is possible of Quran every day and/or to listen to its recitation. As a minimum, Muslims complete a full Quran recitation at least once in Ramadan, by reciting daily one part of the Quran 30 parts over the average 30 days of Ramadan. Do you have to fast everyday during the month of Ramadan?

Yes, you have to fast everyday during the month of Ramadan unless you are exempted from fasting in some days or whole month for being ill, on travel, or having health problems due to old age, or for prgnancy or feeding baby that with which you are medically advised not to fast (see verses 183-185 in Quran Chapter 2 Surat Al-Baqarah). In these cases you have to compensate for these days by fasting when the excuse is no longer valid, or pay on each not fasting day to the poor what is equivalent to full day meals, or both.

Out of this period he is allowed to do every thing allowed in normal life (but of course not to be forbidden by religion as gambling, drinking alcohol, prostitution, etc..).
