World of Warcraft is an MMORPG that is set in the world of Azeroth:
MMORPG is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. The player
can be one of several races {Human, Dwarf, Gnome, Night Elf, Draenei and Worgen on one faction and Orc, Undead, Tauren, Troll, Blood Elf and Goblin on the other} and one of several classes
{Priest, Warlock, Warrior, Shaman, Mage, Druid, Rogue, Hunter, Paladin and Death Knight}
; each class and race has different abilities related to their class.
There are metaclasses in the game - generic roles that 2 or 3 classes can fill.
DPS - Damage per second, can be filled by any class with the right armor and weapons,
Healer - Paladin, Druid, and Priest; Shaman can heal but it's not a strength, Tank
- protection Warriors, feral Druids, protection Paladins, and Death Knights. CC i.e. Crowd control is mostly done by mages, druids, and hunters.
Mages are often called 'glass tanks' they can dump alot of damage
quickly but are unable to take a lot of beating. Warriors are known for being
damage sinks, they can take a lot of punishment and keep the attention of bad
guys, but can't put out near as much damage as mages. Priests are healers for
the most part, Druids can play lots of roles. Paladins are excellent for killing
undead mobs, Shaman are great team supporters, Warlocks are masters of Demons,
Hunters do massive damage at a distance.
The monsters are called mobs, the non-player characters (npcs) provide the
players with quests to gain experience and armor/weapons. Dungeons are called
instances. There are mounts to get around faster: from plain horses to gryphons
to zebras to dragons. As players add experience they gain new abilities to deal
with stronger mobs. There have been two expansion packs so far -
The Burning Crusade, which opened a new land called The Outlands and
Wrath of the Lich King which opened Northrend and came out Nov 14th 2008.
Also, just to add on that each race has a certain class you can be for ex human (race) can become a paladin (class) but cannot be a druid (class) also for each class you have a talent tree. for ex. for paladins you can choose 1 of there talent trees. There is a prot tree to be able to tank and a ret tree to be able to do dps which is damage per second and holy for Masive heals you can switch these later on for gold if you need to be prot 1 day and holy the next this is one thing you can change after playing.
Also Cataclysm will be coming out sometime during 2010, addin 2 new races, worgen, and goblins.
There are four types of servers: regular, Roleplaying (RP), pvp, and Roleplaying pvp(RPPVP) in a regular or roleplaying server, you can kill people of the opposing faction only if you choose to and they have pvp enabled. on a pvp or RPPVP server it is not a choice...if you are going to get attacked, then you will.
If you choose to do pvp on a regular server and don't like not being able to choose when you can attack someone you can do battlegrounds, which is like a game where two raid groups of different factions get to go after each other. there are many different battlegrounds, warsong gulch (which is capture the flag). arathi basin (where there are five bases, and you gain resources by holding the bases. whoever reaches 1600 resources first wins.) alterac valley (where each side starts at 600 reinforcements and who ever gets to 0 first looses) eye of the storm (which is like capture the flag, but there are 4 bases and each base generates resources for the people who capture it, as well as the flag being captured...basically its a mix of AB and WSG) etc. doing battlegrounds earns you honor and marks, which you can use on various things such as epic gems (which sell for alot of money) armour, weapons, recipys, etc. definitely (becides raiding) one of the most fun parts of the game.
When you get to level 85 (at the moment highest level) you do heroic dungeons which are harder dungeons and eventually raids. These raids can offer powerful armor and can gear you for harder raids and get better gear from those raids. Raids come in 10 man and 25 man, which often takes long to get groups for.
The World of Warcraft movie is scheduled for release in 2011, and its script is written by Chris Metzen, the main lore writer for WoW. The story is reputed to be set before the actual time in World of Warcraft classic.
There are many rumors circulating regarding the cast, but nothing has yet been substantiated.
World of Warcraft is a Massively Multi-Player Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) set in the Warcraft universe. It features characters from the Real Time Strategy (RTS) single player games Warcraft, Warcraft II, and Warcraft III, as well as some possible characters thrown in from some of the Warcraft books, and comic books.
It is a persistent game, meaning when you log out, the world is still going on (on the servers).
The American film production company Legendary Pictures is behind the movie World of Warcraft. The movie will be directed by Duncan Jones and will be released in 2015.

No, the Warcraft universe (Warcraft 1-3 and World of Warcraft) is not based on the Lord of the Rings. In fact, the first MS-DOS based Warcraft: Orcs and Humans was released in 1994 while the Lord of the Rings movie was released in 2001.
There is no such thing as World of Warcraft: The Frozen Throne. It is called Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. World of Warcraft is much different.
